This Past Weekend

January 28, 2008

This past weekend was awesome.  First of all, I work with the best lab.  Friday evening I stopped by to pick one last album for the upcoming show.  They told me to sit in the lobby and wait or a second, which kinda threw me off .  Normally I just walk in the back and talk as they put together my order.  A minute later Jenny came around the corner with an excellent cake in hand with a lit candle asking me to make a wish.  That was a huge surprise, thank guys!  Saturday was my birthday, which fortunately, I had off.  Didn’t do anything incredible, just spent some time with the family and relaxed with my wife watching a bunch of movings.  Sunday was the big event.  The Weddings in Houston magazine hosted an awesome bridal show at the Houstonian hotel.  It was very elegant event.  Phenomenal show.  Can’t wait for next year.   The weekend was a long one, but in a good way.

The 14mm lens

January 25, 2008

I just this lens as a present to myself for my birthday, which is this Saturday the 26th.  It gives an insanely wide angle for some pretty unique shots.14_002.jpg14_001.jpgI was about 8 inches away from Sophie’s face in these shots. I do have another dog but she’s kinda camera shy. 14_003.jpgThis image was shot at f/2.8, 1/20s @ 8000 ISO.  That’s right, 8000 ISO!! The next image shows the actual pixels.  14_004.jpg This is, if not better than, what the image would look like on the D200 (my old camera) at 800 ISO.

Swimming Beagle

January 23, 2008

A couple of  days ago our little puppy learned a lesson the hard way.   Jess and I were in the backyard and she was feeding the fish in our little ponds that we have.  Our puppy, Sophie, was getting quite close to the edge of the pond.  She started to drink the water in the pond and try to get the fish food. As soon as we turned around we found one wet pup! Plus it was freezing outside. I hope she learned a lesson. sophie0005.jpg sophie0007.jpg  sophie0003.jpgsophie0001.jpg

Goofin’ with the camera

January 23, 2008

Me and good friend of mine, Chris Aram, went and shot a few yesterday.   There is a little farm not too far from my house that I’ve always wanted to stop by and shoot around.  They have a bunch of old stuff just sitting around rusting, which make for some interesting subjects.  I’m glad we got to shoot some.  We weren’t able shoot all that we wanted because of the rain that was predicted kicked in when we stopped for lunch.   1464-01.jpg1464-02.jpg1464-12.jpg1464-03.jpg1464-11.jpg1464-09.jpg1464-05.jpg1464-06.jpg1464-07.jpg 1464-08.jpg

It was a wee bit chilly yesterday, but Diana & Joseph didn’t seem to care.  We had some fun walking through the good old down and got some pretty cool shots.  I love it when the couple has little chemistry.  Makes it easier for me to do my job.   dj_00013.jpg dj_00012.jpgdj_00010.jpgdj_00009.jpgdj_00005.jpgdj_00004.jpgdj_00007.jpgdj_00002.jpgdj_00008.jpgdj_00003.jpgdj_00001.jpg

It’s been a little while since I’ve got to post anything.  Lindsay & Russell were married at the Memorial Drive United Methodist.  It was a beautiful church and fortunately a beautiful day.  lr__00024.jpglr__00023.jpgdwh_5766.jpglr__00022.jpglr__00021.jpglr__00020.jpglr__00019.jpglr__00018.jpglr__00017.jpglr__00016.jpglr__00015.jpglr__00014.jpglr__00013.jpglr__00012.jpglr__00011.jpglr__00010.jpglr__0009.jpglr__0008.jpglr__0006.jpglr__0004.jpglr__0005.jpglr__0003.jpgThis guy had a great time with the camera.  He ask a few questions, I handed him the camera, and he went crazy.  lr__0002b.jpg lr__0001.jpg

Shasta’s bridal

January 10, 2008

Shasta was beautiful today.  We walked around Uptown Park this afternoon with some awesome weather, compared to yesterday of nasty cold rain, today was perfect.  The were the bluest skies, it was a great temperature and this girls eyes are piercing. No regrets spending a silly amount of money this past month purchasing the D3 and the 85 f/1.4.  The saturation and contrast of the images straight out of the camera are phenomenal.  I hardly enhanced any of these images, believe it or not.  There was a lot of natural vignetting going on.  shasta_26.jpgshasta_24.jpgshasta_25.jpgshasta_23.jpgshasta_22.jpgshasta_21.jpgshasta_20.jpgshasta_19.jpgshasta_18.jpgshasta_17.jpgshasta_16.jpgshasta_15.jpgshasta_14.jpgshasta_13c.jpgshasta_12.jpgshasta_11.jpgshasta_10.jpgshasta_09.jpgshasta_08.jpgshasta_07.jpgshasta_06.jpgshasta_05.jpgshasta_04.jpgshasta_03.jpgshasta_02.jpgshasta_01.jpg

This shoot was just amazing.  We got down to Galveston just in time for some beautiful light. Other then getting there a little late, everything went according to plan. Bethany and Josh were AWESOME! bj32.jpgbj03.jpgbj02.jpgbj04.jpgbj08.jpgbj06.jpgbj05.jpgbj09.jpgbj07.jpgbj10.jpg bj11.jpgbj16.jpgbj19.jpgbj17.jpgbj18.jpgbj23.jpgbj13.jpgbj14.jpgbj15.jpgbj21.jpgbj25.jpgbj24.jpgbj20.jpgbj33.jpgbj12.jpgbj27.jpgbj30.jpgbj34.jpgbj28.jpgbj29.jpgbj26.jpg

JJ’s CD release

January 8, 2008

This past Saturday, JJ Worthen officially released his CD at the Warehouse Live.  I own the CD myself, and it has some excellent music on it.  I’m pretty picky when it comes to compliments if that says anything.  Him and his band sounded phenomenal live.  Good job guys. You can access the album on Itunes.  jj01.jpgjj02.jpgjj05.jpgjj04.jpg jj08.jpgjj06.jpgjj13.jpgKris and Krista listening in.  jj15.jpgjj10.jpgjj09.jpg

Kris & Krista were a lot fun to work with.  We shot around downtown then later that evening we all went to JJ Worthen’s cd release concert and shot a few there. kk-0005.jpgkk-0003.jpgHere’s another one of Ryan’s shots.kk-0006.jpgkk-0001.jpgkk-0010.jpgkk-0011.jpgkk-0004.jpgWe were in a little pub that was unbelievably dark.  This photo was shot a 1/10 sec @3200 iso f/2.8.  Other words not possible with old camera.kk-00013.jpgkk-0009.jpgkk-0012.jpg
